Everything a letting agent does, without the commission. Applicants judged on a fuller picture than a credit score alone, rent collected on the 1st by DebiCheck, and a regulated property-practitioner trust being built for the deposits. You approve. You never chase.

On 14 April 2026 the Rental Housing Amendment Act came into force and quietly moved the goalposts on written leases, deposit handling and the paper trail behind every eviction. Being organised stopped being optional.
14 Apr2026
The Amendment Act took effect. Non-compliant lettings now carry real exposure, including fines and, at the serious end, imprisonment. The paperwork you used to shrug at is now the paperwork that protects you.
Rental Housing Amendment Act
5 of 6
Of South Africa's six largest rental agency brands, five score below 3 out of 10 with their own customers. The service landlords pay a commission for is rated poorly by the people paying for it.

Of South African evictions skip the tenant-circumstances enquiry the law requires, which is precisely how a landlord with a good case still loses it in court.
Oxford Human Rights Hub
The work of an agent, a bookkeeper and a compliance officer, on rails, time-stamped and visible to everyone entitled to see it.
Deposits will be held in a PPRA property-practitioner trust account under a registered principal's Fidelity Fund Certificate. Never an operating account. One shared ledger that the landlord, the tenant and the auditor will all read from. We are building the regulated trust the money will flow through.
A POPIA-logged, time-stamped audit trail built for an auditor to read end to end
Bank-authenticated DebiCheck mandates pull the rent, and the month runs itself from there. Arrears sequences, CPI escalations and compliant notices all fire on schedule. You open the app to make decisions, not to chase people.
Built so the routine month needs nothing from you at all
A rent protection layer is in development and will launch when the underwriting is signed, not a day sooner, and we will not pretend otherwise. What protects you in the meantime is the Tenant Score on every applicant, a bank-authenticated DebiCheck mandate, and early legal action from day 31 while it is still a conversation and not a court case.
No launch date we cannot keep, and no underwriter named until one is signed
One identity number goes in one side. A sealed, compliant lease comes out the other, and the screening decision lands in 90 seconds.
Add the property, set the rent, and LeasEase syndicates the listing. Photos, compliance documents and the lease template are already handled.
You spend: 4 minutes
Each application is assessed on a fuller picture than a credit score alone and returns a Tenant Score. Same criteria, same evidence, every time, which is also what keeps you on the right side of the fairness rules.
Decision in: 90 seconds
DebiCheck collects on the 1st. The arrears sequence starts the moment a payment misses, and legal action follows from day 31. Every cent shows on a live ledger your accountant can open without phoning anyone.
You do: nothing
Most rental startups tell you what they will be. Here is what is working today and what is still being built, in plain language, so you can decide with the real picture in front of you.
Tenant Score
Every applicant assessed on the same criteria, with the reasoning on record.
DebiCheck collection
Bank authenticated mandates, collected on the 1st, reconciled to a live ledger.
Early legal action from day 31
The arrears sequence runs automatically and escalates before a small gap becomes a court case.
PPRA trust account
Deposits will be held in a property-practitioner trust account under a registered principal's Fidelity Fund Certificate. We are building it and we do not hold deposits yet.
Rent protection
In development. It launches when the underwriting is signed. We will not name an insurer or a date before then.
Founding cohort
We are signing the first landlords in KwaZulu-Natal now. Seats are open and nothing has been allocated yet.
The old arrangement works beautifully for the agent. Here is the same month, both ways.
The old way
Priced as a slice of your income, forever.
LeasEase
One flat monthly fee per door that does not grow with your rent.
If you are a landlord thinking about a deposit, a principal considering acting for us, or an investor running a first pass, this is the part that should reassure you.
PPRA trust account, in build
Deposits will be held in a property-practitioner trust account under a registered principal's Fidelity Fund Certificate

If something here is not covered, write to us at info@leasease.co.za and a founder will answer.
We are signing a founding cohort in KwaZulu-Natal now. The wider rollout follows that cohort, and it follows when the work is finished, not when a date on a slide says so.
Places will be offered in the order requests were received, and founding members will keep their benefits for life.
Three things: the Tenant Score on every applicant, DebiCheck rent collection on the 1st, and an arrears sequence with legal action from day 31.
Two things are still being built. The PPRA trust account for deposits is in progress and we do not hold deposits yet. Rent protection is in development and launches once underwriting is signed. We will not quote you a date we cannot keep. The section above sets all of this out line by line.
Deposits will be held in a PPRA property-practitioner trust account under a registered principal's Fidelity Fund Certificate. Never in an operating account and never on our balance sheet.
Every movement will be signed, time stamped and POPIA logged, so the audit trail is something you could hand to an auditor without a covering explanation. To be clear about the timing, we are building that trust now and we are not holding any deposits until it is in place.
One flat monthly subscription per door with a 14-day trial on every tier. No commission, no finder's fees, and nothing that scales with your rent, which is why it works out to a fraction of what a traditional agent costs over a year.
Cancel whenever you like. Founding cohort members lock in their rate for life.
Every applicant is assessed the same way and returns a Tenant Score built on a fuller picture than a credit score alone. We publish the outcome and the reasoning to both sides.
We keep the underlying method private, partly because it is ours and partly because a scoring model you can read is a scoring model you can game. The decision is always yours. The Score is the evidence.
No. Plenty of good agents do work worth paying for. What we object to is a percentage of your income, forever, for admin that infrastructure now does better.
If your agent earns their commission, keep them. If what you actually get is a monthly statement and a phone number that rings out, you have options.
A founding place in the KwaZulu-Natal cohort. Founding member benefits for life, and a product shaped around your portfolio rather than someone else's.
